Our Providers
“As a Pediatric Endocrinologist, I partner with my patients in the pursuit of overall health and wellness. I always look forward to building life-long relationships with my patients so that when they grow out of pediatric services they have a strong foundation to continue to successfully manage their health as adults.
Outside of the medical office, I enjoy staying active through playing basketball, exercising at the gym, hiking, and traveling. I also enjoy trying new restaurants and spending time with family and friends.
I look forward to meeting you in our Specialty office.“
Health Information for Pediatric Patients, Parents, and Guardians
We are committed to maintaining your child’s health and would like to share an important update regarding adolescents returning to sports after a positive COVID-19 infection.
There is growing literature about the relationship between COVID-19 and myocarditis, or inflammation of the heart muscle. For pediatric patients, 13 years old and above, that have recovered from a COVID-19 infection, a medical evaluation is strongly advised prior to returning to sports. Regardless of the severity of related symptoms, the current recommendation from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American Academy of Cardiology (AAC) is players should be seen by their primary doctor to complete a cardiac exam prior to returning to sports. If moderate to severe symptoms were observed, it is recommended the player be cleared by a cardiologist as well. If your child meets these criteria and plans to return to his/her sport, please call your child’s pediatric office today to schedule an appointment. If you’re looking for a pediatrician for your child, please view our locations above.
For more information, watch our very own Dr. John Rodarte, our of Descanso Pediatrics office, talk with ABC7 News at the following link: https://abc7.com/myocarditis-covid-19-and-covid-19-in-children-symptoms/10383879/.

Ensuring children and young adults are caught up with all their vaccinations, including the HPV vaccine, is an important effort to keep their care on track. Together we can create the first generation free from HPV cancers. For more information, please talk to you child’s pediatrician.
We also encourage you to visit the California HPV Vaccination Roundtable. They are a coalition of health organizations, including the American Cancer Society and the California Dialogue on Cancer, with a mission to prevent HPV-associated cancers and pre-cancers through education and increasing the vaccination rate. They recently hosted a 1-hour open forum webinar for parents and community members on August 2, 2021, which can be viewed by clicking here. They have many other educational resources on their website.
