Throughout your course of treatment, your gynecologist works with a multidisciplinary team of urologists, gynecological surgeons, obstetricians, radiologists and other Huntington Hospital experts to ensure the most appropriate and beneficial care, whether surgical or non-surgical. To address fertility concerns, our gynecologists also work, as needed, with the Huntington Reproductive Center, the hospital’s state-of-the-art facility for the treatment of infertility.

Diagnostics & Imaging

At Huntington Hospital, a full range of diagnostic and imaging technologies, such as urodynamic testing and magnetic resonance imaging, are available to quickly and accurately identify gynecological problems. Also available are bone density x-ray, for the evaluation of osteoporosis and other related conditions, and advanced ultrasound technologies for evaluation of fetal development. Sophisticated diagnosis and treatment of pelvic pain and fibroid growths, among other conditions, are also available, using minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures.

Gynecological Surgery

For women requiring gynecological surgery, Huntington Hospital provides care that is among the finest in the world. As an example, reconstructive surgeries to repair tissue damaged during vaginal birth are among the approximately 1,000 procedures provided by gynecological surgeons each year at the hospital.

Our hospital’s minimally invasive surgery (MIS) center is equipped with state-of-the-art video laparoscopic and hysteroscopic technologies, enabling our gynecologic surgeons to perform the most advanced procedures available. Such techniques allow surgeons to treat fibroid growths or polyps without the removal of the uterus, and recovery time and scarring are often reduced. Treatment of ovarian cysts can also be accomplished with or without the removal of the ovary and/or uterus, depending on a patient’s needs and circumstances.

In addition, our surgeons have developed a highly successful technique to treat inverted vagina, and both vaginal and minimally invasive hysterectomy are available. Our gynecological surgeons are also experts in the correction of herniated vagina and in the treatment of prolapse of the uterus.
